What should I work on today?

Command center for people who run many projects

Command center for people who run many projects. Unique keys, KEY-N tasks, a checkbox plan, a manual Today list, Inbox, and MCP for Cursor or Claude. Start a workspace in the browser, or install Day Director as an app.

Day Director is not a login page. It is a project command center: keys, KEY-N tasks, a checkbox plan, a manual Today list, Inbox, and hosted MCP. Optional Inbox sync reads Google Tasks only. See Privacy, Terms, and Google Tasks access.

A command center for a full portfolio

You keep many live projects: products, clients, personal systems. Lists stay Linear-compact. Status is a circle. Priority and due date are explicit. There is no computed score telling you what to care about.

Projects with keys

Each project gets a unique key. Tasks number themselves: DAYDIR-1, DAYDIR-2. You never invent IDs by hand.

A plan, then tasks

Import a markdown checklist or write it by hand. Each checkbox can become a KEY-N task with one plus. The plan stays; the work gets a number.

Today, by hand

Today is a focused list you order yourself. No algorithm decides what matters. Add a task, move it, start it, finish it.

Inbox first

Ideas, links, notes, and photos land in Inbox. Optionally sync Google Tasks (read-only) so open items from every list can be triaged into a project.

Agent that writes

The in-app Agent can create tasks, update them, and add items to Today. It never deletes.

MCP for Cursor and Claude

A hosted MCP server at /api/mcp lets your coding agent list projects, create tasks, and keep the same workspace current.

Invite without email

Settings → Members creates a 14-day link. Guests can be scoped to one project. Nothing is mailed.

How a day works

  1. 1

    Capture

Anything unclear goes to Inbox: a title, a link, a photo. You do not invent a project in the moment.

  2. 2

    Place

Promote the item into a project, or put it on the project plan. A plus on a checkbox creates KEY-N and keeps the link.

  3. 3

    Focus

Put a few tasks on Today. Reorder them. Start and done stay one click. Tomorrow you do it again.

Cursor and Claude already in the workspace

Hosted MCP at /api/mcp lists projects, creates tasks, and updates Today. Install the public Cursor plugin, then Settings → MCP gives you a personal token.

Pricing

One workspace, full product. Pay after you start. Checkout is in Settings → Billing.

Questions

What is Day Director?
Day Director is a command center for people who run many projects at once. Each project has a unique key, tasks number themselves (KEY-N), and Today is a list you order by hand.
How is it different from Linear?
Linear is a company issue tracker. Day Director is for a personal or studio portfolio: products, clients, and life in one workspace. Status is an icon. There is no computed score telling you what to care about.
What does KEY-N mean?
Every project gets a short key such as DAYDIR. Tasks are DAYDIR-1, DAYDIR-2, and so on. You never invent IDs by hand.
Can Cursor or Claude create tasks?
Yes. Hosted MCP at /api/mcp lists projects, creates tasks, updates Today, and writes the project plan. Install in Cursor from /cursor, then Settings → MCP gives you a personal token.
How much does Day Director cost?
Pro is $15 per month or $150 per year. Checkout is in Settings → Billing after you start a workspace.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Use the site in the browser, or install Day Director as a PWA from Chrome or Safari. The workspace stays at daydirector.com.
Does Inbox sync Google Tasks?
Yes, optionally and read-only. Inbox → Sync Google Tasks requests See your tasks (tasks.readonly), copies incomplete items from every list, and never writes back to Google.

Who it is for

Day Director is built for operators who hold a portfolio: a founder with several products, a studio with client work, or one person running business and life in the same system. If you want a company-wide issue tracker with cycles and estimates, use Linear. If you want one place that answers “what now” across every project, including from Cursor via MCP, this is that place.
